Give Back Programs

As the main focus of our Mission, Education and Awareness is a key element in Falls Prevention.  Falls are the leading cause of death and injury in Aging Adults.  It is critical that the aging and the community at large are aware of educated on the importance of Falls Prevention.  The Safe Aging Coalition of NKY is dedicated to the Education Programs we can offer in our Community.  In addition to Seminars, Presentations, Health Clinics, and Demonstration, our Website will host articles on the Research and Prevention of Falls.

Nightlight Program

The Safe Aging Coalition is excited to announce that they will be offering a “Give-Back” Program.  Along with our Education we offer to the community, we want to offer Seniors in need assistance in the area of Falls Prevention.  In 2017, we will be offering Nightlights to the first 200 attendees of our Adult Health Clinic with a Focus on Falls Prevention on September 22.  Since most falls occur at night, we have purchased nightlights to guide the way to bathroom safety.

Assistive Devices

We are also working on a program to offer Assistive Devices to prevent falls.  Our goal is to do a “Test Site” in 2018 to find areas that Seniors need Assistance with Assistive Devises to Prevent Falls.  More information will be provided on this Program in the near Future on this project.  Upon completion of the “Test Site” program, the Safe Aging Coalition of NKY will offer Financial Assistance to those in need for Assistive Devises.

Senior Events

The Safe Aging Coalition of NKY hosts an Annual Adult Health Clinic at the Main Branch of the Boone County Library.  This event offers over 35 Vendors who bring Awareness, Education, and Demonstration of Falls Prevention Procedures, Screenings, and Programs.  It is usually held on the First Day of Fall.  The 2017 date is September 22 from 10-4 (See Events).

The Coalition is available to host or co-host Falls Prevention Events with your Organization.  Contact us to set a Meeting to plan your next Falls Prevention Event.
